At the time our boys were 2 and 3 years old and very well settled where we previously lived. I knew that it was vital to their growth that the nursery provided care and support in all aspects of their individual development as well as supporting us as working parents.
We visited the Learning Tree and met with the owner, Mona, which in itself was very unusual as the other nurseries I visited I had only met the Manager. I was instantly put at ease and the boys went off to play as I was shown around. Mona explained that they are a very hands on nursery and that the children have freedom to develop in a structured and safe environment and are allowed to get very messy through play. It was also very important to me that the children had an outdoor space that they could explore as the boys needed to burn off all their excessive energy. Mona also explained that they run a forest programme and take children out into the community to learn road safety and to get to know the local area.
The boys started straight away and I knew that they were both very happy. I would pick them up and they would tell me of all the adventures that they had. Imagination and bringing it to life was a big bonus as well as the healthy eating programme that Mona implemented.
As parents we were supported through potty changing, speech development, reading and writing and preparing for big school.
It was with a very heavy heart that the boys had to leave to start primary School but I knew that they were given the best possible start through the work that the Learning Tree done with them.
The only advice I would give to new parents is to make sure that you have good waterproofs as your child will have an adventure of a lifetime and will get very messy… and they will be very happy!” – Maura
We all love what we do and it shows in the strong bonds between staff, parents and children. The Learning Tree values staff contributions and in the past 5 years it has been amazing to see the growth and development the setting has gone through; from a small cosy setting in Mona’s home to having our own building, I am so proud to be a part of it.” – Jade Williams
